Last reviewed: October 27, 2026
The Austin Progressive Country Vault is an independent website dedicated to the history of 1970s Austin progressive country, The Lost Gonzo Band and the cosmic cowboy era.
Independent tribute — not the band
We write for readers everywhere — no local knowledge of Texas is needed, and we explain American terms as we go. This website is not the official site of The Lost Gonzo Band. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the band, its members, their families or estates, management, or any record label. We do not sell tickets, merchandise or band recordings.
Our mission
We want to help fans and researchers understand the music and the people who made Austin a live music capital, through clear, well-sourced articles. Start with The Lost Gonzo Band history.
How we research
We rely on published books, interviews, liner notes and public archives such as those in our archives and museums guide. We avoid invented quotes and figures, and we correct mistakes when they're pointed out. Details are in our editorial policy.
How the site is funded
The site may show display advertising and include affiliate links to books and records. These never decide what we write about.
